Season
Sunday, January 4th, 2009So it’s been a while since I’ve written anything, but that’s not to say our team hasn’t been full of excitement already this year. Our fall training is over and our racing season is about 2 weeks away.
We had a whole mess of new members join our team this fall ranging from freshmen to grad students, and most of them aren’t even from Rochester! Practices were well attended with 10-15 members coming regularly. I think the record number of people was somewhere near 20 at one of the hardest hill interval sessions we ran this year in the cemetery next to Cascadilla Gorge in cold rain - super hardcore. Snow was good to us (especially at Salmon Hills) and several of us were able to get out skiing a few times before Finals set in.
Erin our treasurer did a wonderful job raising funds and we have all sorts of goodies to look forward to this winter including beginner skis, a new waxing table, and a video camera. We even held a “waxing party” to get the beginner skis waxed and teach new members the fine art of waxin’ skis.
Jan. 9th marks the beginning of our week-long ski camp at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec with 24-ish members of our team attending. Immediately following is our first two races in Jericho, Vermont at the Ethan Allen Biathlon range. Our racing schedule can be found here:
